Your Safety Matters
At Linz Chat, we're committed to providing a secure environment for genuine connections. While we implement robust safety measures, your awareness and caution are essential. Follow these guidelines to protect yourself while using our platform.
Protecting Your Personal Information
Keep Sensitive Details Private
Never share the following in your profile or initial conversations:
- Home address or workplace
- Phone number
- Email address (use in-platform messaging)
- Financial information
- Passwords or security details
Use Platform Messaging
Chat within Linz Chat until you've built trust. Moving to external apps or giving out personal contact info too soon can expose you to scams or unwanted contact.
Red Flags to Watch For
Be cautious if someone:
- Asks for money or financial assistance—this is always a scam
- Rushes the relationship or pushes for rapid commitment
- Refuses video calls after multiple messages
- Provides inconsistent information about themselves
- Asks for intimate photos or engages in inappropriate conversations
- Claims to be in an emergency and needs help
- Pressures you to meet in private or isolated locations
Video Chat Safety
Before the Call
- Ensure you're in a private, well-lit space
- Check that your camera and microphone work properly
- Consider using a neutral background that doesn't reveal personal details
- Dress appropriately—treat video chats like real-life meetings
During the Call
- Maintain eye contact and be present
- Watch for inconsistencies between their profile and live appearance
- End the call if you feel uncomfortable or pressured
- Never engage in sexual activities—this violates our policies
Meeting in Person
If you decide to meet someone offline, take these precautions:
- Public place: Choose a busy, public location like a café or restaurant
- Daytime: First meetings should be during daylight hours
- Transport: Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting
- Tell someone: Inform a friend or family member where you're going and who you're meeting
- Stay sober: Keep your wits about you—limit alcohol consumption
- Trust instincts: If something feels wrong, leave immediately
Using Linz Chat's Safety Tools
Block & Report
Every profile has a Block and Report option. Use Block to stop all communication with a user. Use Report to alert our moderation team about suspicious behavior. We review all reports within 24 hours.
Privacy Controls
Customize who can see your profile and contact you through Settings → Privacy. You can restrict visibility to verified users only or adjust who can message you.
Verification Badge
Verified users have completed our identity verification process. Look for the checkmark badge—this indicates a higher level of authenticity.
Common Scams to Avoid
- Romance scams: Someone quickly declares love and later asks for money
- Catfishing: Fake profiles using stolen photos or false identities
- Advance-fee fraud: Requests for upfront payments with promises of later returns
- Malware links: Suspicious links that may install viruses or steal data
- Blackmail: Threats to expose private information unless paid
If you suspect a scam, stop communication immediately and report the user. Never send money or personal information to someone you haven't met in person.
Emergency Situations
If you feel threatened or in immediate danger:
- Call emergency services (112 in Austria) immediately
- Leave the location safely if possible
- Contact Linz Chat support through the Report function or Contact page
We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations and can provide information to assist with urgent cases.
